Aloha From Hawaii
I will be in Hawaii the rest of the week working like a dog in the hot sun with the sand and surf. It is a tough job, but someone's gotta do it! Aloha! (Picture of Diamond Head in Waikiki) (5/29/07)
Thunderhill Revisited
It is finally here! The video footage of Pedro behind the wheel at Thunderhill! I think I shot over 90 minutes of video, and after some severe cutting and editing, we were able to salvage 2 minutes and 38 seconds. I think I will stick to the stills. Hey, I have other talents! Steven Spielberg eat your heart out! (5/29/07)

Taste of Sausalito
Happy Birthday to the Golden Gate Bridge
The Golden Gate Bridge opened 70 years ago today. It is a pretty amazing sight, and I consider myself lucky that this landmark is part of my daily drive. (picture taken from Lincoln Park, near The Presidio) (5/27/07)

The Road to Encinitas
We decided to take a road trip and head south for the weekend to Encinitas. (just 25 mi. north of San Diego) We had a fabulous time and we were definitely able to hit the 'reset button'. Especially after our stop in Laguna Beach at the Surf and Sand Resort. They actually leave ear plugs at the bedside table because the waves are so loud! We ate well, slept well, took in the waves, and the great weather. We were also able to stop by and see our friends Markus and Charlie and they were gracious enough to give us a place to crash. It was so good to see them, even though we did take a beating in a game of Spades. We fell in love with the area, from the surf to the sushi, not to mention Swamis for breakfast and a stop at the Pannikin Cafe on the way out of town. We would love to find a way to make our next visit to Encinitas a permanent one, but until then we will continue to shop for the right longboard. (5/25/07)

Peen and Kickball are Getting Married!
Congrats to my little sister and her husband to be Chris! They got engaged over the weekend, and we are so happy for them! We couldn't have asked for a better addition to our family! Welcome to a lifetime of Lucas Christmas fun, lasagna dinners, and we highly suggest earplugs! We love you both and can't wait to see you soon! (5/22/07)

Bay To Breakers
Words cannot describe this 12K race through San Francisco. This past weekend marked the 96th annual footrace that has been run over the same course through the city streets, making it the longest consecutively-run race in the world. An estimated 60,000 participants started at the Embarcadero (Bay) and ended up at Ocean Beach (the Breakers).
Some were motivated to run fast, while others were motivated to drink beer in imaginative ways. I am already working on my costume for next year! (5/20/07)

Bocce Ball Championships
Well, another bocce ball season has come to a close. The finals were last Friday and beers were drank, blood was shed, and it was determined that last years winners: A&J Rollers will hold on to the Nielsen Trophy for Bocce Ball Champions. Lost Campers put up a good fight, but the only mustard that was being cut was going on the hot dogs, and not the court! Stay tuned for next season as Lost Campers and Balls to the Wall combine their mad skills to become: Lost Balls! For more details go to Sausalito Underground . Have you been underground?? (5/18/07)

The Mother of All BBQs
We had a deelish BBQ down on Brett and EP's houseboat in celebration of Moms everywhere. It was quite a feast! Hats off to Brett and EP who always know how to do it up right! The deelish food and drink was followed by an outdoor movie on the rooftop deck: JAWS! It was probably one of the best movie experiences we have ever had! Being outside, right on the water was outstanding! I think we should make it a tradition. (5/13/07)

An Evening At The Ballet
Tonight Elizabeth and I went to see the ballet. I have been hearing Maggie talk about Robin and her ballet dancing for years, to the point where Tim and Brian (her other children) have had to declare a 'Ballet Free Zone'! I have to say, it was fantastic! The show was Carmina Burana, and it was amazing! Robin was unbelievable! She has been dancing with Smuin Ballet in San Francisco now for 5 years. Fantastic! She owned that stage! I can certainly see what all the buzz has been about! EP and I both really enjoyed it, and were happy to get out for an evening of culture. The picture below is what we encountered upon our return home. I guess some find an evening at the ballet culture, others are quite cultured by Grand Turismo 4 on the Play Station! To each their own....(5/12/07)

What's Up Doc??
Hats off to our pal Brandy who graduates today with her PhD from Colorado State University! Unbelievable! We are so impressed! This summer, tourists, boy scouts, and Cheeley campers will be guided down the Poudre River by a doctor! Does this look like the face of a doctor to you?? Just be sure she doesn't ask you to turn your head and cough! Cheers B! (5/11/07)

A Visit From Brandy (and Arthur too!)
Conan O'Brien In San Francisco
Conan O'Brien was in the City By the Bay this week at the Orpheum Theater doing his show. I tried to get tickets, but sadly I was not successful. The other option was to stand in line at 5 am, but that is not really a good time of day for me. Here is a clip of him running around the city. It is antics like these that keep him on the top of the list for my celebrity Thanksgiving Dinner.
